Fiber Arts

In this creative class, students will explore the artistic world of fiber, yarn, and fabric, crafting both traditional and innovative pieces of clothing and art. They’ll dive into sewing, knitting, weaving, crocheting, and fiber-painting, developing hands-on skills to create functional, wearable, and decorative art. Each student will also learn how to use a sewing machine. This class is perfect for students of all genders who want to unleash their creativity, especially through upcycling and repurposing materials, while gaining a deeper understanding of how things are made. They’ll discover the difference between woven and knit fabrics, explore the origins of various fibers from plants and animals, and learn why certain materials are chosen for specific uses.

In this pottery class, students will explore the art of handbuilding pottery, learning a variety of techniques to create both functional and decorative pieces. Students will also learn about glazing techniques, with all clay and glazes used being food-safe, ensuring that their creations can be both beautiful and practical.
