Book the role and play the part! Play Rehearsal is everything you want in an after-school theater program. The class will introduce young actors to the wonderful world of classical theater, jump into modern theater and even spend some time exploring comedic improv. Together, the class will choose a short comedic play which they will perform at the end of the semester. The best part of this class Is that everyone gets cast in a role! Every week the theater director will work with the cast on scenes, and monologues, build simple props, create a program and set pieces. At the end of the semester, the cast will be ready to perform for friends and family. Break a leg!

You’ll work with a classmate to come up with a simple company idea, taking it as far as it will go before the class ends. You’ll create a business plan, enlist friends and family, and set up everything you need to be a junior entrepreneur: a first email address, a basic app or website, and a presentation. Ultimately, you’ll share your idea with friends and family, work hard to get a first customer and present all your progress to the whole class. When the past fuses with the future… In this unique program, developed by Stem&More’s team of experts, kids will enter the fascinating Jurassic world while building challenging robot models of dinosaurs. This stop motion kids’ class is the perfect introduction to the magical art of stop motion! With the help of an industry professional and who happens to be a SODE teaching artist, students will learn every important step of how to create an amazing stop-motion project. The first few classes will encourage the kids to create a basic script and to create their very own Claymation characters. Once the groundwork is done, that’s when the filming begins using kid-friendly stop motion cameras and software as well as tablets.

Throughout the course, the kids will do warm-ups, scene work, and games. She adapts her class based on the age range. This class is great for kids who are curious about the world of acting, but also for kids who are a little shy or want to try something new! It is a bilingual class and she will make sure to have the kids play both in French and English.

Classes emphasize building a strong foundation of basic chess knowledge and are perfect for anyone willing to learn the game and develop a unique passion. Topics include tactics training, understanding how to analyze, learning proper endgame techniques, assessment of strengths and weaknesses, and more. Edu-Chess, established over twelve years ago, is an after-school program teaching chess in a scholastic and fun environment. Chess programs at Edu-Chess are designed to foster intellectual and emotional growth in children. Roger Weerasinghe, Director of Edu-Chess, requires all teachers to be certified Edu-Chess instructors. All instructors are held to high standards, and many of them have been teaching chess for over five years, making Edu-Chess the leader in chess instruction for children in the Los Angeles area.

After-school Activities / Class Fees
Regular weekly sessions are $440.00 for the semester inclusive of SchoolCash Online (SCO) fees. Private 30-minute weekly piano and guitar lessons are $1000.00 for the 14-16 week semester.
*Please note: Registration for private lessons will open on Friday, January 12 at 7:00pm via Active Network on a first come first serve basis. A minimum of two lessons per slot is required to be confirmed by the vendor.

Registration for after-school activities and classes are available through Active Network. Prior to Registration, please create an Active Network account by clicking here. For tips and tools on how to create an Active Network account, please click here. $0 will be collected during the actual registration process—however, all registrations will require payment in full within the first two weeks of the start date of their class. This allows everyone to try their class once before committing to payment.
If you would like to be put on a payment plan, you must select the option when registering for a class (this will not be an available option once registered—nor can the school add it to your SCO account). Payment installments must be taken on the first of each month. If you are a LILA employee, please contact the After-school Activities and Vacation Camps Manager at afterschool-activities@lilaschool.com. After Friday, February 16 there will be no refunds/credits for withdrawals, class switches, and discounted/prorated fees for late joiners. Please keep in mind that if payment is not received/collected by the deadline students may not participate in the class and run the risk of not being able to register for any upcoming Break Camps and/or 2024 Fall After-school Activities.
Payments and Refunds
Payment information will be collected during registration. During the first two weeks of the program, students may withdraw or switch from any activity without any penalty. All payments should be processed during the second week of after-school activities on Monday, February 11 and before Friday, February 16 via SchoolCash Online (SCO).
Late Enrollment
Any late enrollment is subject to the full registration fee for the semester and is not prorated for missed classes. Late enrollment will have the opportunity to select a payment plan. If you have any questions or concerns please contact the After-school Activities and Vacation Camps Manager at afterschool-activities@lilaschool.com.
Makeup Classes
The week of Monday, June 3–Friday, June 7 will be reserved for makeup classes. These classes will take place only in the event an entire class is canceled for the day and are not meant to compensate for individual absences. If you have any questions or concerns please contact the After-school Activities and Vacation Camps Manager at afterschool-activities@lilaschool.com.
If you would like to switch or drop a class you must fill out this form. We will no longer take requests via email or word of mouth. All requests must be made by Friday, February 16.
Waitlist/Switches and Changes
If a class has reached the maximum number of students, parents have the option of adding their child (ren) to the class waiting list via Active Network. (You must pay to be added to the waitlist). You will be notified of entrance into each desired class via email. Once notified you will be given 48 HOURS to register/pay.
