LILA Athletics 021023 - HS Girls Soccer

Welcome to the 2022-2023 Season Info and Overview page! Please review the below for in-depth information regarding the Spring Season, sign-ups, tryouts, registration, and more! Tryout and practice schedules are available farther down this page. *Please note: all dates, times, and other details are subject to change.

For this coming year, we will be transitioning the majority of our teams from year-round play to seasonal play. This means that we will only be holding certain sports in certain seasons. For example, middle and high school girls’ volleyball will train and play in the fall, while middle and high school girls’ and boys’ basketball will train and play in the winter, and middle and high school track & field will train and compete in the spring. *Please note that tennis, fencing, and e-sports will still be offered year-round.

Spring Season 2023

Thank you for your interest in joining the LILA Lions teams. We are looking forward to kicking off the Spring 2023 Season! Please read the following in-depth information about our LILA Lions Spring 2023 Season, as well as information on tryouts and registration processes. Then click one of the red buttons to Register! For ongoing, in-depth athletics updates and reports, please remember to visit our Athletics Announcements web page regularly.

We will continue with the seasonal play format this semester, which means that we will only be holding certain sports in certain seasons. For example, middle and high school girls’ volleyball trained and played this past fall, while middle and high school girls’ and boys’ basketball are currently training and playing in the winter, and middle and high school track and field will train and compete in the spring.

All student-athletes participating in any spring sports must complete their SCO registration and payment once it opens on Friday, January 13. Registration will close on Monday, February 6. Please also complete and return these required forms (high school students only).

*Please note that tennis, fencing, and table tennis will still be offered year-round and are broken down by Semester 1 and Semester 2.

Tryout Information

We offered two types of registrations for Semester 2: competition team and training only. Spring HS Boys Volleyball Tryouts already took place and results were announced in the month of January. MS CO-ED Soccer Tryouts took place at the end of January. Players (boys and girls) will have the opportunity to press for selection in the competition team. Those not selected will have the opportunity to continue to train and build on their skills and techniques in the training-only team. Decisions for the competition team were emailed directly to students and parents on Friday, February 2.

Tryout Day 1 – Wednesday, February 1 from 4:15pm – 6:00pm at John Ferraro Athletic Fields
Tryout Day 2 – Thursday, February 2  from 4:10pm – 5:30pm at Burbank Campus

Official training days and coaching started Monday, February 6. Training is at John Ferraro, and occasionally at Burbank. Transportation is provided to the field, but you must be able to pick up your child after each training session at 6:00pm.

We will be competing in the new MS Arroyo Sports league and the schedule will be distributed in early March 2023. If a student is selected for a competition team they will need to register and pay under the competition category on SCO.

*Please note all high school student-athletes chosen to join competition teams are required to get a physical examination from their own, or any CA-certified, MD, DO, NP or PA. The CIF Form is also shared below.

Those who are not selected for the competition team but would still like to participate and train (due to numbers playing in non-league games) with the team for the particular sports season can register and pay under the training category on SCO. We strongly encourage those who don’t make the competition team to join practices, if they would like to be considered for the team next year.

Registration Information

Registration for both competition team and training only, which includes submission of payment and signed forms/waivers (below and in SCO accounts), needed to be completed by Monday, February 6

*Please note that all high school student-athletes chosen to join competition teams are required to get a physical examination from their own, or any CA-certified, MD, DO, NP or PA. This waiver is due by Friday, February 24, so please plan accordingly.

Year-Round Sports Information

Please keep in mind our year-round sports (tennis, fencing, and esports) payments will continue to be on a semester basis. Semester 2 Registration was due by Monday, February 6.
